The first widely available mobile multi-touch piano, Pianist has been featured in a number of Apple advertising campaigns and was one of the Awesome iOS4 Apps in an Apple iTunes promotion. Sound On Sound magazine listed Pianist in its pick of the Top 20 iPhone Apps, and T3 Magazine in its Top 100 iPhone Apps. Pianist has also been recommended by media sources such as the Mail On Sunday and Fox News. Pianist is considered so influential that it has now been listed as one of three examples of musical instrument apps in the primary academic reference: "The Grove Dictionary of Musical Instruments".

- Full 88 key piano keyboard sampled from a real piano for maximum authenticity.

- Record and save your compositions for later playback. Overdub as many times as you want, and remove unwanted notes.

- Virtual "Soft" and "Sustain" pedals, and expression depending on where you press the key.

- Optional dual keyboard layout allows you to reach even more keys without the need to scroll. Up to four octaves can be displayed and played at once.

- Stay in time with a completely configurable metronome.

Pros and cons of Pianist app for iPhone and iPad

Pianist app good for

A pure marvel if only we could change the naming of the note do ré mi... instead of A B C otherwise its a shame not to give this awesome App the 5 stars it deserves :-) I love you folks
Thanks so much for such a nice instrument! Works as expected, very responsive, nice sound. No problems at all @ iPhone 3G (2.1).
Good value for cost, not only fun but useful for jotting down melodies on the fly! Would just add a way to transfer saved files in a format compatible with composing programs (e.g. MIDI).
Not a power user. I just want to warm-up my voice again, so this app is worth it. No need for all of us to buy a real piano.
At first, I was slightly sceptical of purchasing this app due to the price but it was certanly worth the risk. Ive writtim this revue to counteract what some other people have said. This app Is worth it. In my opinion, one could spend much more money for something far less emtertaining. Such an example would be a poorly made video game. For the price of, say, a magazine, this app definitly hold more entertainment value. High quality artwork and sound... What more could one want from such an app. Piano in your pocket.
If you are a musician that needs to record a melody thats in your head get it otherwise pass

Some bad moments

There´s not possibility to play along with the iPod music library!! UPDATE IT!!!
I think for the price the app should be more stable. The app rarely starts, usually crashes and requires a reboot to start the app.
Cute little thing I wished you could see the whole piano instead of sections
Not really worth it, you cant even record a full tune correctly considering that you cant see the full piano.
The sound quality and the functionality arent any better or different than the piano in GarageBand. Best use that instead of paying for this app.
The original and worst of the keyboards. Why did I think a touchscreen keyboard with nanometer keys would be worthwhile? 3.99? Id rather have a happy meal. Id get more out of it at least. If I delete this can I have my money back please?
